Hello Teachers

  • Constraints make excellent teaching difficult – time, tests, “the set curriculum”, colleagues, the “boss” and so on. Do something different to the normal run of the mill activities of your classroom.
  • For example try a creative writing exercise in a science class to personalise the information –
    Cell Specialisation
You are just one of the cell gang, hanging around in the tissue.  Choose the tissue your cell belongs to and write about the hard work you have to do with your mates.(e.g. you could be the ankle bones of a jogger, a haemoglobin carrying red blood cell, or one of many others).

In a class to which the concept of creative writing in science is totally alien? No I wouldn’t, the new type of lesson is probably best left to the everyday classroom teacher. But try it if you are game – a healthy discussion should get it going …
